Almeida on Guitar
Manne on Drums
Shank on Flute and Sax
Brown on BassVery tasty stuff! And, I've never heard of this album. Anybody know where I can find a Concord discography? I've noticed my Goldmine doesnt list many Concord recordings.
Follow Ups:
I like the L.A. Four. I have three of their records.Concord Direct-to-Disc CJD-1001 "The L.A. Four" Just Friends
East Wind Direct-to-Disc EW-1003 "L.A. Four" Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte
East Wind Direct-to-Disc EW-1004 "L.A. Four" Going Home
I have another record with Laurindo Almeida:
Crystal Clear Direct-to-Disc CCS-8001 Virtuoso Guitar

Do a search. No LA Four listing.
its got more details on the band - quite popular in the 70s. I've picked a couple of them, too, over the years. All well worth it.Bud and Laurindo collaborated in the early Bossa Nova days where Bud took an active interest along with his more-well-known counterpart, Stan Getz. Ray Brown has to be one of the most busy bassmen in history, too. Shelly Manne and Bud once played in the Stan Kenton orchestra in the early 50s, too.
Bud is still playing these days. His calendar is on his web site. He's awesome in person. Hope you get a chance to hear him.
Cheers,
Thanks! I've been to Bud's site lots of times. He doesnt list all his albums. When did Bud move out of Washington State?
