Listened with Sennheiser HD 580 Headphones as it is late at night. Super quiet pressing; zero surface noise, almost no tape hiss. And it sounds so real! This is perhaps the best LP of all time.The Duke at Tanglewood (Classic 200 Gram)
Also listened with Sennheiser HD 580 Headphones. Super quiet pressing, zero surface noise, there is some slight tape hiss between selections. Also sounds extremely realistic, perhaps the second best LP of all time.Arthur Fiedler presents The Wonderful World of Music (Reader's Digest) No Arthur Fiedler, it's all National Philharmonic Orchestra mostly conducted by Charles Gerhardt. Some I listened through speakers and some through headphones. This is a 1S/1S pressing and there is surface noise and some tape hiss, mostly mint by one side of one LP has an audible scratch. Still for $5.00 for a 10 set of some of the greatest performances of many great works it was a steal! Through speakers this is really exciting and realistic, though headphones it is a little too noisy and has some overload distortion not audible through speakers. I will remember to only play this set through speakers in the future.

Harry Belafonte was a bit before my time, but last year I came across an RCA Victor mono recording of "Belfonte Returns to Carnegie Hall with Odetta, Miriam Makeba, The Chad Mitchell Trio, and the Belafonte Folk Singers." The Orthophonic recording was very good but the performances unexpectedly mesmerized me in a way few recordings have. Of course, I have been curious about this previous recording. I guess it's on my a-list now.
"Of course, I have been curious about this previous recording. I guess it's on my a-list now"Yikes! You must get it! Original stereo copies can be found for between $10 and $2 and are HIGHLY recommended. As Teresa said the music is amazing and as a second benefit the sonics are excellent.
I'll never understand why there are detractors of the what's spinning threads for this very reason.
The good stuff is in the links. And I agree it is a great way to find out about excellent LPs I wouldn't otherwise know about.Just ignore the detractors and keep posting what’s spinning.
