What would it be?My choice is The Beatles White Album side with Blackbird and Rocky Racoon. (A thought that occured to me as I spun the album.)What a great album side....

Didn't think so.Maybe one of the last Quartets -- the one with the Grosse Fuge, I think.

Considering that others here chose abbey road, I'm feeling a bit guilty that I don't own that album. That will be my next vinyl purchase. (I don't have it on CD either, and am looking forward to hearing what I've been missing...)Am I in for a big surprise?
Just curious. Maybe I'm a lot older than I've been thinking......
I got a good chuckle from your post. I'm 38 and my parents had all the Beatle albums.(I grew up listening to them) The only Beatles album I own is the White album. All of the other albums have not been heard by me for over 20 years. So to answer your question, yes I am familiar with it, but it's a distant memory to me. Considering that the album side I chose is also a beatles album, you've really got my attention. I have a feeling I've really been missing something. That album is my next purchase. I can't wait.
Can you name a few songs to jog my memory?

never heard this tho I had most Zappa records..maybe Joe's garage or Sheik Yerbouti instead
BWS is a recording (various sources) from the late 60s that is more like Zappa meets Stravinsky, Satie and Hendrix through a revolving door (with background accompaniment by Edgar Varese on sped-up wood blocks!)...
I love Sheik Yerbouti in its own right, though, esp. the original vinyl version!

Agree with lenzcap. But, if forced to answer: Beethoven Op. 111, Vladimir Ashkenazy, piano.

Had to pick an Aussie bandIf I had a second choice I'd go for Rubber Soul

No flies on either side. One good power pop song after another with irresistable hooks. U.S. version of course. Perhaps you'd approve of Side 2 of As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls? By Metheny et al??

Running on Empty, side 1, by Jackson Browne
Mine would be "Late for the Sky" or "The Pretender". Jackson Browne's music is classic and transcends time.
Fred Fennell/Eastman Wind Ensemble on Mercury. Grainger: Lincolnshore Posy
GETZ/GILBERTO.Side 1, starting with the classic: Girl from Ipanema with Astrud Gilberto on vocals and ending with Desafinado. In between are two other cuts which are just as good.
My second choice would be Side 2!
Springsteen The Wild ,Innocent & the E Street Side 2
or
Haywood/Lodge Bluejays Side 2
....Chicago VI side 1. It does'nt get better than that for an old time rocker. The song "Just you 'n' me" I could hear forever.
Side 2 of Abbey Road
...
Variety is the spice of life and I don't think there's anything I couldn't get sick of. I'd give up listening to music for awhile and find a way to get off the island. Can I bring a guitar?

I have never understood how some people can spend their entire lives listening only to one narrowly defined type of music. Listening to 1 side for the rest of my life would be torture.
American Prayer the Doors or Frank Zappa shut up an play yer guitar
What a question! Perhaps the first side of Max Roach's Freedom Now Suite or the first side of Eric Dolphy's Out To Lunch.
