Has anyone heard either of these carts...or better yet, both of these carts and can comment on the sound? I'm looking for the less bright sounding of the two. Which one has sweeter mids, a fuller sound, and a smoother top? Any advice would be appreciated.
Follow Ups:
Cheaper and very musical is a Denon 103. Preamp needs to handle 0.3MV though.
Sold my 10X5 after reluctantly deciding that it couldn't hold a candle to the Denon, even after nuding the Dyna. Obviously very system-dependent -- all those Dyna lovers can't be wrong (unless they've never tried a 103).
I should probably try one of those someday. Is the 20x more of the same only better, or is the 10x5 the one to get?
Haven't heard the Garrott, but had a 10x4. If you don't mind an extended break in (50 hours), don't think you'd regret buying the Dyna. Be careful with matching to your system, if it tends toward brightness, it may bother you a bit before it settles. In the end, it just seems to strike the right balance top to bottom. Compared to the Shure V15, much more exciting. Just MHO. Hope that helps.
Strong bass, wonderful full mids, smooth highs. Ridiculous for the price.

Can't comment about the Garrott, but for the $$$ the Dyna is hard to beat. Big, airy, dynamic sound and still tracks decently, too.
