I like the Michell clamps but I have read they dont fit the spindle of the IIX. Looking for something light, like the Michell. If anyone out there can give me some suggestions it would help a lot as I have done a bit of research and really come up with very little.
Follow Ups:
I used to use a rather heavy ADC clamp. It worked fine--the extra mass helped, and the springs had no trouble handling the extra weight. Just level the platter with the clamp in place.
I use a Michell clamp on my IIX and it seems to fit fine.
Hi I have seen an actual systemdek clamp on ebay I just couldn't bring myself to spend 41 british pounds. you may want to look there.
I have one of those clamps, and used to run it on my old Systemdek II. It obviously works very well with the Systemdek's tall spindle, but it is a spring-loaded clamp that presses down with quite some force on the LP. It hasn't done any harm to the many records I played using it, but the firm clamping force is a point to bear in mind. The clamp tidied up the sound with my original Linn Basik LVV, but seemed less influential with a better arm. I eventually took to running the deck without it, partly for the sake of convenience, and my ultimate set-up with that deck featured a Ringmat, for which a record clamp is contra-indicated.
Of currently available clamps, have you considered the Clearaudio Clever Clamp? Spindle height is no problem with this model, and it is cheap!
