sort of an intro to the hobby. they usually have a history of records from cylinders and shellac to 33 vs 45, some quaint price guides, etc. usually a nice 'lite' read - enjoyable mainly because of my over-zealous love of all things records.
It's not a price guide, thats a good thing. It's just a enjoyable little book to read through before I fall asleep at night. I recomend it. 4 out of 5 stars.
...put up a review on Amazon, to warn others?

Yes I have it and it was a complete waste of money. It was the worst book on the subject I have ever got. It's not even good for amateurs. You get more worthwile reading in one issue of Record Collector magazine. That Vinyl Junkies book by Brett Milano on the other hand, was absolutely fantastic, quick read or not. It's the best book on record collecting ever and it's a fine book on its own terms, full of really great anecdotes. I don't think I put it down until I'd finished it, it was so good. Monoman rules!
that I saw this one. I'd read about Milano's book and even exchanged a couple e-mails but just never got around to ordering one...I'm glad, after your tirade (don't worry...I love a good tirade!) that I didn't order the second book!
