Hey all,I did pick up, for a dollar, a record I had never seen: Brian Jones presents the Pipes of Pan, in flat mint condition. It is one of the tripiest things I have heard in ages. It sounds like, maybe, some sort of meditation music? Very repetitive but also weirdly propulsive. I like it a lot.
Although it looks like some sort of "World Music" lp, the inner sleeve is all Rolling Stones, circa 1971. Was it recorded by Brian Jones?
Is there anyone here who has heard the record? Whad ya think?

Follow Ups:
Jones didn't have much to do with it, but his name was plastered on it as he did have some influence on getting the recording contract.
I see that LP around fairly often here in NYC. It is "collectible," of course, because of its connection to the Stones and because there is a subset of Stones collectors focused on anything Brian.I believe the story goes that the Stones were spending some time in North Africa during the period between Beggar's and Let It Bleed, just before Brian died. He heard this music and decided to try to do for this type of "trance" music what George Harrison had done for Indian music; that is, mainstream it for consumption by hippies.
No one ever really mentions the music, probably because it’s not "rock," but if you like it, all the better for you.
In the condition you describe you could probably get $30 - $40 for it.
I collect any and all Rolling Stones and related side projects. I've only played it a couple of times, and yes it is very strange music. It isn't something I would want to hear frequently.
