Does anyone know if there's a recent vinyl reissue of Miles Davis soundtrack LP to "Ascenseur Pour L'echafaud"? I can't seem to find a very good used copy. Since the film is being rereleased this summer and the soundtrack was remastered and released on Verve CD, I figured that a vinyl reissue might be out there (considering all the other Davis LP reissues).By the way, if you haven't heard this album, do yourself a favor and check it out! It's the soundtrack to Louis Malle's 1957 film by the same name. Miles and his combo essentially improvised the jazz score one night in Paris and it's so evocative of rainy Parisian nights.
Follow Ups:
Lift to the scaffold, Fontana reissue, 180g
i just ordered it. it will be interesting to hear the alternate takes.

Fantastic! I checked with Acoustic Sounds but didn't have the English title (in fact, they're rereleasing the film as "Elevator To The Gallows" which I also tried).Do you know if, in addition to all the original takes, the LP includes the actual versions from the original soundtrack (reverbed, etc.)?
and is all the better for it IMO
Hard to believe that Miles simply spontaneously played all this while watching the film, but that's how it's supposed to have happened...
Don't know anything about a new vinyl reissue. Occasionally there's a Fontana release on ebay. Keep an eye on ebay UK. I got an original 10 inch Fontana there. Great album and probably my soundtrack favorite.
Keep in mind that in the U.S., Columbia released it as Jazz Track."
"Jazz track" is not very good, soundwise, because Columbia "condensed" almost 30 minutes on one side of the record.
Side 2 is much better soundwise. It has some great music, by the Miles davis sextet (with Coltrane and Bill Evans, at that time).
It is the only Miles Davis six-eyes I know that has poor sound quality (only on side 1).
Only one side of Jazz Track contains music from the film and not all of it. Sony Columbia later released the complete music.
Did Sony Columbia release it on vinyl or only on CD?
