In Reply to: John, I got a weird green build-up when I used Stylast... posted by Muzikmike on August 4, 2005 at 15:41:21:
I don’t know what to tell you, Mike. I’ve been using Stylast for years and it works perfectly for me. I’ve never observed any sort of residue on my styli and cantilevers. Presently, I’m on my fifth or sixth bottle in about 20-years. I tighten the caps when not in use and they seem to last a long time. I have not looked at my present OC9ML/II under a microscope since its been mounted, but I looked at my previous OC9 after five years of use and it looked beautiful—no residue that I could see. I also looked at my Ortofon MC-2000 after 11-years of use and I observed no residue there, either.Sorry, I don’t know what to tell you.
Follow Ups:
I have used Stylast since 1979 and have never had a problem.
No buildup or goo.
Same here. I do apply it sparingly, however. My first bottle lasted 8-9 years. I'm only on my second bottle now. I guess it could be possible to overdo it.

I just finished my third bottle in about 15 years, maybe longer.
I guess the key is to use it sparingly but often. Here's a link to a previous post about my recently sold Benz.
cheers,
