Actually, I never got to listen to them. I found a home made set last year at an estate sale that were too big for me to move; I wound up pulling the drivers in the basement there. There was an LE15, a PR15 passive radiator, a 375 driver w/ HL93 horn/lens and a Radio Shack crossover. All the drivers tested fine at home out of the box, but the woofers showed some fine cracks in the surrounds. Are you cabinets JBL or home made? Perhaps they aren't optimal for the woofer. Mine were huge, but they did have the passives there too.
Follow Ups:
I have the passive radiators and the Wave shaped lens. the JBL Xover and almost perfect cabinets with perfect latice grills. the surounds are plenty hard.I was hoping that someone would have a bunch of experiance with them.
When i brought them home I hooked a Grundig transistor radio to one in the driveway and listened to it clearly a couple of hundred feet away outdoors.
Thanks
Bill
Bill:That surround is something called "Lans-a-Loy" and probably was a proprietary JBL product. I found out some info from Lansing Heritage; you may enjoy poking around there; the links below. Your best bet may be in some of the forums there.
Good Luck!
Andy
Thank you Andy
Just a heads up for others to visit the Lansing site you mentioned.
