Just found this beauty at the swapmeet. Guy wanted $60, offered $50. He took it. Got it home and am using it now. Sounds great. Took it apart and cleaned the dust out. Only one problem. Some idiot marked the back with a etcher, want to remove and repaint. Any suggestions?

Like someone would do so they could ID it if it were stolen? If so, to be safe, I think I would check with the police first. Not saying anything about you, but I see a lot of stuff on eBAY that is missing box, remote, instructions, whatever, and I wonder how much of it is stolen.

What are you talking about - the actual rear panel. If that's the case why bother unless you are going to have the stereo in backwards. You can remove it easily except for the power cord. The etchings are deeper than you think if you plan on sanding it down.
Yes it's the actual rear panel. I have to agree though, I probably won't be able to fix it.
