Has anyone used anything like the FMOD CROSSOVER sold by parts Express?I'm considering trying these between the subout on my Jolida 1501RC and a powered subwoofer. I would connect the FMOD into the RCA jacks of the sub; connect my cables then connect the other end of the cables into the pre-out on my Jolida 1501.
Any thoughts?
Follow Ups:
Of course, most preamps / sources have a low enough z-out, and most power amps have a high enough input-z, thus minimizing this potential issue, but it IS worth checking.I'd guess that these have a pair of matched and cascaded passive RC 1st order filters. Which is as much as we can get away with passive wise.
I note that the OEM does a range of these LP's and HP's, this is GOOD news.
?
Well, my spkr/room response has a bit of gain at the actual BDS point of ~> 200hz - 200 is one of their 'stock' options! And, I'm adding another matching pr of encl's with the same bass driver!
And, 150hz, which they also stock, might be a bit low! Probably have to try BOTH, eh?
I wonder if they'd do one-offs, though?!
I'd love a pr of 2nd order LP's at 180 or so!- for BDS EQ/compensation.
BTA I could just buy any LP pair and experiment with SMALL R's and C's myself!!?? perhaps using a stepped filter.
And thus, we come to the issue of what sort of R's and C's the OEM uses!
Is it possible they are 'audio' quality? / Could they be replaced with 'better' items, that are STILL small enough!?

I have used them and still have them. Failing a "real" crossover (aka Marchand or similar) they are probably the best least expensive product I've ever used!I have both the 50hz HP and LP models, as well as the 70 HP that you show/mention...
The only fault I can find in them is that when used as High Pass, I can hear just the slightest loss of resolution. The trade off here of course is the loss of rez vs my dipoles farting out at higher bass levels!
Hmm... the dilema continues... BUT for the price, try 'em... If you ddo't like 'em, just turn them over on EBAY...

the panels no longer have to try to do ELF, And as they are probably rolling off 1st order before 50hz it should all blend quite well.Noting that asymmetric filtering for subs, with shallower HP often sound better than matching slopes as you seem to have found.
