Hi Folks,
Just got a FM-100-B and was looking for a source for a replacement to the 40 uF/40 uF/40 uF/40 uF (250 VDC on all sections) Quad filter cap. I searched various sources on the net, but have not found comparable replacement in a can cap. Does anyone know of a replacement source for this?
Just use four individual capacitors as replacement.

By Murphy's Law, when you need a specific value, it will be temporarily out of production, so usually I get the next closest thing and add extra capacitance as needed, say a 20-20-40-40 plus a couple of added 22 uf axial lead caps to make up the difference. If clearance is an issue, make sure replacement part isn't too tall! This is a good source in Germany:

Click on "New series: Authenticap Twistlock-FP-Electrolytics for US-amplifiers, fit directly into existing amps, one to four sections."
Replies promptly to English-language inquiries, and I had my parts from Germany faster than with some USA suppliers.
Haven't tried these folks, but they offer custom sizes too:

Here's the one I came up with from Antique Radio Supply - aka: www.tubesandmore.com. Check their part number C-EC50X4-350. slightly higher capacitance and voltage but that's ok.Also watch the can's height if you intend to use a cabinet. This is sometimes a problem with old Mac gear.
Cheers,
David
