Greetings- Against my better advise (again), my buddy made another bad ebay tube purchase, this time with a twist. I don't think that it was intentional on the part of the seller to deceive, however after rereading the auction several times, it still gives me the impression that the auction is for TWO tubes, not just a single. Just to clarify, in the link provided, where it says QUANTITY (under item location), it originally read 2 available (two tubes or two pair??). Directly beneath that where it says HISTORY, there were NO purchases listed until my friend did the "Buy it Now". I'd just like to hear what other inmates have to say about the situation, Personallly, I think that my friend should either receive a partial refund or another tube, especially because the seller was also accepting "Best Offers" for the product, indicating that he was willing to accept a little less money for the purchase. On a side note , the seller has quite a few 5751 tubes for sale also, which he is taking "Best Offers" on.Thanks for your assistance, Regards, wpod

The wording could have been clearer, however he does give test results and if he had 4 tubes to sell why would he mismatch the pairs? It's even more unlikely he would have 2 pairs that test exactly alike. The quantity option should have prompted an email when the bid was placed and before it was confirmed. I think it was simply a misunderstanding and he may be entitled to a return and refund but a partial refund or second tube seems like taking advantage of an honeest oversight by both parties.
your friend should get another tube or complain to E-Bay, not that that will likely help.
There are two (2) tubes for sale.
You can purchase one or both....if you're quick enough.I also see "purchases"....that tells me, or anyone else, how many are left and or sold by clicking on it.
I don't see a problem with the ad.BUT.....if you ever have questions...ask the seller the question before bidding.
He should be entitled to 2 tubes. The wording alone indicates plural. Words such as "Tubes", "These", "Both" indicate more than one.

I agree that it looks as though there are two tubes being sold for a single auction price. The seller should have listed his tubes as a multiple-item auction, specifying that a bid was for one tube only, and that two tubes were available. The bidder in this type of auction can indicate how many tubes he or she wants to buy at the auction price. This last option is NOT present on the auction page.I would attribute the confusion to the seller's inexperience ( he has only 84 feedback points ) -- EXCEPT that he has been the seller in all his recent auctions. Given that, he should know better.
The buyer should not be held to the obligation to purchase, since the true price is effectively double what the auction led him to believe.
the buyer (my friend), didn't realize the problem until he opened the package and found only one tube. I also beleive that the mistake was made due to the inexperience of the seller, I don't think that he purposely meant to defraud the buyer. Thank you, wpod
I find such ads to be exactly what you said fraud. There is no question that the wording is consistently referring to two tubes. This is so irritating. It forces you to constantly e-mail the scammiester to clarify exactly what they mean. Also the use of "each" is generally incorrect. You see this in large lots for instance "28 each assorted 6SN7s" , they are selling the tubes as a lot not each, it is up to ebay to tell sellers what terms they can use.
It sure looks to me that the purchaser of that item should receive two tubes. What did the vendor say when he was contacted?
a consensus of what other knowledgeable tube people thought about the situation. So far it seems as though most people feel as we did, that the auction was not worded properly. Thank You, wpod
Make sure your friend prints out the auction ad.
make sure your friend saves all emails between him and the seller.Contact the seller and tell him he made a mistake. He only sent one tube not the (2) tubes the auction was for. Never for a second let him think the ad was read any other way than for (2) tubes.
Wait for a reply. Give the seller a few days. If he replies back that the ad was for only (1) and not (2) tubes, then respond back and tell him Paypal will be contacted and a dispute resolution claim will be filed.
If memory serves me you have 30 days to file a claim.
The seller will loose. Paypal will do a charge back against the sellers account. Could take a couple months for your friend to get his money back. Or the seller will send the other tube.
