I think it's been creeping up on me, but suddenly I just realized that I've been overtaken by tube mania.Symptoms,
* scrounging for old tubes, stopping at flea markets, checking ebay listings
* lusting after crappy old amplifiers built 50 years ago using obsolete equipment
* An accumulation of spare tubes that far exceeds the capacity of all tube sockets in my collection of amps, preamps, tuners, etc. this last is a big clue to the sickness, at last count I have up to 20-30 spare tubes of different type per active tube socket
* Perfectly nice tube gear accumulating around the house without being used in a system. More than I can use, but an inability to let any of it go (sick! sick! sick!). I'm not a collector, just a music lover. How cum I've got all this STUFF?
* Running power supply simulations and revising the tube-rectified power supply in the same amp for the FOURTH time.
Follow Ups:
...You have taken a large step in joining the club of tube addicts. I can relate to your affliction and it's a wonderful thing, isn't it? Long live tubes. I'm a tube-o-holic and proud of it.
I am waiting for my second tube amplifier to arrive, and I already have bought a few tubes for it on ebay...Of course I check ebay listings all the time... ;)

Wisdom of the ages: Many tube amps make feet grow warm.Tube rolling is the beginning, and who knows where the end may be...
Admit you are addicted and have everything removed from the house. Even if that thing reminds you of your drug of choice. Sever your ties to your dealer(s). Change your phone number(s). Some people actually have to move, depending. All of that's hard, I know.
Check yourself into rehab. The withdrawal you experience in your first few days will make you wish you were dead. You'll get past that. All the strange faces you see will be friends in a few days.
You'll feel better in awhile. It can take up to a year for your body to start producing endorphins again. Sometimes the cravings never subside.
Sometimes it takes many visits to "get it right". Relapses are common too. For me it was eight or ten "visits".
Email me if you want to talk. I can drive you and pick you up too.

Repeat ater me, I am a Tubeoholic, my name is benie, I mean CometCKO!
Oh god I think I'm in denial. You know you got it bad when your buying + hording tubes for a piece of gear your planning on getting in the future!!
I think you realize that you are a tuboholic. You are not in denial so you can be cured!
I'm stocking up on power tubes because I believe they are currently underpriced. I also believe there will be supply interuptions because most are being manufactured in volatile areas.
You are right most are being manufactured in volatile areas.
Guess I'll have to order some more. Some roll Tubes and some roll Bud. Those that roll both have got it bad.
Warning! Trying to do both at the same time can be Dangerous!! LOL!
I rolled bud back in the day.
Blown amplifiers tweaking stoned and dropping the screwdriver inside. And busted cantilevers because I thought I was ok to mount a new cartridge.
Not good!

You should sell me your extra tubes at a huge discount so you don't have to look at them and be reminded of your infliction. Just ask your wife. She'll agree with me. Always trust the ones you love.
...
....hoarding of spare tubes well in excess of what would be used in several lifetimes, is an especially reliable indicator; perhaps the 'prime marker' for the obsession. I'm not sure there is a long-term treatment as I've tried several approaches, without success. ; )
It goes something like this:
* Well I know those GE 5751's don't really work that well in this preamp, but maybe in the NEXT preamp they'll be perfect. Guess I'd better keep them, huh?
