I've been curious about this tube for a long time. Manley uses it so it can't be too bad. They have a large stock of the now unavailable Ei, but they want too much for a quad, unmatched from stock. They "offer" matching (?) but I declined anyway.
E-H makes one and quads are available from Tube Depot. They are expensive but much less than from Manley. I plan to try them in my QS Minis and finally in my D75.
Lucky I'm not dating right now so I can afford to gamble!
Follow Ups:
Upscale Audio has EI kt90 and ia asking 59.00 per tube.

How much was manley asking for the kt90s and were they the early generation ones? Jim Mcshane said the later production ones had runaway bias..The earlier ones are fabulous.
They were $45.00 each unmatched if I remember correctly. The customer service person I spoke with said they could be matched if desired. I asked her how much extra that would cost and she said she would find out and get back to me. It was their lunch time and she was not the regular person who handled it.
I said thanks, don't bother because I was not willing to spend that much to retube my ARC D75 because the tubes in it (Sovtek 6550A) were still good. I only wanted the KT90 to hear/try them, etc.
I got a call back from a guy at Manley anyway. He left a message on my voicemail.
Manley's customer service is good, no problem with that aspect.
If you want ONE KT90 it's $42 bucks. Packing paperwork invoicing all that....5 or more =$36.75 each
10 or more=$33.60 each
20 or more=$29.40 eachAll pricing includes matching/batching for current draw for optimum performance in OUR gear. Can't vouch for anyone else's gear...
And anyway, I do not think we have too many Ei KT90 left. i think we used most of 'em up in Manley 500's in the last few years... we have just odds and sods left.
We have been using the EH KT90 with good results in our Neo-Classic 500's. Better than no tubes at all, hey?

I'd use the Penta/Shuguang KT88SCs.

Try KT88-98.
Shure you'll be nice with these over sovteks.
Very easy to find and cheap.
Give them at least 50h breakin. Mine change the sound a lot first hours.
I actually tried the KT 90's in my mini-monos.They really didn't sound that great.I spoke to Miks and ended up getting a quad of his Chineese KT 88's. (He selects the one's that work well at the relatively low bias points of the mini-monos). They are very good.
The PS 88's are in there right now and performing well!
I'll call him and ask why not the KT90EH. The KT90 was on the list for my amps. Nobody has the Ei's and the E-H is the only KT90 available right now.
I cannot see another company tooling up for it because the demand must be close to zero.
They are for my D75 anyway.
What do you like so much about the others over the EL34s? I don't think I ever heard the V4 with another output. I have a V4 Piggy Bank, so I would appreciate a reply.
I have QS Mini Mite monos not the V4s. The Minis came with Tesla E34L tubes.
When one of the supplied KT77s flamed out in my Rogue Atlas, I put the QS supplied E34Ls in my Atlas to see how it would sound with them. One of them also flamed out, so I was left with no 34s. I then put a set of Sovtek 6L6WXT+ tubes in the Minis and liked how they sounded. Now I'm listening to Shuguang KT88s in the Minis.
Since then I have purchased and tried a few different EL34 types as indicated.
The demand for the GREAT sounding Ei tube is substantial - but the EH is not in the same league as the Ei. So the demand isn't there.
how can I view your tube offerings? Do you have a web site? I Googled but could only find something about some rich guy from Chicagoland and his huge generosity...!
(but not your stock) and gave up after awhile.
I suspected the EH would be inferior. Hopefully it will work out, however. If not, it's not a big deal. I'll just sell them with the D75 as I am leaning that way anyway. I'm not attached to it at this point.
I'm moving out of a house and into an apartment on August 1 and will not have room for 30 or 40 some odd components. Yes it has gotten out of hand. Normal people sell the old stuff when they buy something new!
What I did not consider was the height of the KT90EH. Hopefully it will not be too tall for the D75. When I called Tube Depot to inquire, they said they had already shipped my order. I can always return them and use my 6550s or KT88s instead.
