I experience loud, low-frequency feedback whenever I turn off my main amp before turning off my Gallo subamp driving the second voice coils of Gallo Ref3 speakers. I think the primary coils are acting as a microphone. Is this harmful to the system? Has anyone figured out a way to avoid it (besides using low-level inputs to drive the subamp)?
Thanks!

but what's this thread doing here?BTW, I don't have your problem but I'm using an Hsu subwoofer amp on mine rather than the Gallo sub amp.
Turn off the Gallo SA first.
I guess I had that coming!
I had the same problem, before it was revealed in some recent review and documented on the Gallo website. Yes, you are correct, it is feedback. My Ref 3's are out in the room, far from any boundary reinforcement. Seeking more gain than the low-level input provided even full on, I tried the hi-level input but found in addition to the turn-off problem, feedback commenced at about the 2 o'clock position without any increase in gain, so I went back to the low-level.
