Known for shorting heater-cathode. If you use a separate winding or transformer, it won't matter if it does short... otherwise, best to fuse the HV secondary (1/8A slo-blo or similar), just in case. The '40s radio repairman's trick was to solder a pair of #47 bulbs in series as fuses.

Exactly... lots of the '30s Zenith radios used the similar 6X5G (an 84 with an octal base) and lots of them had power transformers fry... either fuse the HV or (better) use a separate filament transformer.
