My experience with Pearl coolers is that they work very very well from a perspective of heat & microphonics. The immediate area where the cooler is located may get hotter. The concertina design of the sleeve pulls the heat away from the tubes. I know that power tubes are best with the metal sleeve straight on the tube, & that the neoprene rings should be quite a snug fit.My amp is housed in an enclosed cabinet ( with an open back & slow fan )& has 4 KT90's glowing away, I noticed that the heat is dragged away faster but appears to be more localised, instead of being dispersed throughout the cabinet without the coolers.
Perhaps due to your amp design & setup, heat is being radiated back to the cooler & trapping it. Maybe all you need is some tube dampeners to help microphonics.

That could be, but the design of this amp (Berning Siegfried) is quite open. The area around the tubes wasn't really all that hot before, but with the coolers in place, things got extremely hot. I was using the coolers with the carbon sheath and a ring . . . I wonder if the carbon was acting as a blanket. Hmm.All I know is that if I put a regular room fan to where it blows air around the Siegfried, the tubes cool off to the point where the bases are cool to the touch. I just can't help thinking that, for whatever reason and even though it doesn't make sense, these heat fins were actually making the tubes run hotter.
I've actually not had any trouble with microphonics in this amp, but I thought that perhaps tube coolers might extend the life of the tubes. Not that it even pushes the tubes all that hard, but hey. I suppose the enemy of good is better and I should have just left well enough alone!
those blankets I think are causing the tubes to retain the heat and blocking it from reaching the cooler. thinks of the metal vanes as heat sinks. try it without the kevlar socks and let us know what happens. tony

Try putting them on without the kevlar sock. I think you will find your problem goes away. Yes the coolers do extend their life, as heat is what tends to kill tubes.
