I'm trying to understand how the gr-Research Paradox sounds. Couldn't find this in the archives.
Vienna Haydens also have soft dome tweeter so would this be a similar sound? or B&W DM 303's?
Thanks,
Chuck
Follow Ups:
The P1s have the Focal tweeter which isn't a soft-dome. I just got my pair last Thursday, spent Thursday and Friday night assembling them and all weekend enjoying them. They replaced my PSB Image 4Ts and they are much more open, detailed and have a wider, deeper soundstage. They are also smoother without sounding rolled off; turning up the volume just makes it louder but in no way harsher or brighter.
Bass is also better than my PSB floorstanders. Not just deeper, but tighter and more well-controlled. They really get the percussives right: The snap on the skin of a drum with the resonance of the kit. Female voices are seductive and you can metallic of an acoustic guitar is stunningly real (I play guitar and this is one of my toughest tests).
I'm still familiarizing myself with their sound as they break in, but for the money (or twice as much) I'm already very impressed. Their overall presentation reminds me of the ProAc Tablettes I auditioned but I think they are better in every way.

How much did it cost you? Can this be ordered made already? THanx.
After shipping and taxes (I happen to live in Texas where GR Research is as well) the total was just over $560. That price also included enclosures and the "Black Hole" dampening upgrade ($48) which is recommended but not essential. In all honesty, you just can't touch the quality of these puppies without spending almost twice that much. Your money goes into the quality of the components and the careful voicing of the crossover network design. I've heard some of Danny's other designs and he has a great sense of what it takes for a speaker to be musical.Assembling them is really pretty easy, especially if you have any experience with a soldering iron but I would say you could easily attempt these with no experience. I think it will give you a deeper appreciation and a greater understanding of speakers in general. I think you can get them pre-assembled as well (at a price). Just go to GR-Research website for pricing or shoot Danny an e-mail.
-Mike...
And yes you can order them completely assembled and ready to play if you like.I'll email you some info.
I have tried sending you the information you resquested several times, but I can not seam to get through to you on the e-mail I received from you.rmw@kuzlerdipadova.com Any ideas?
THanks Danny. I'm at tmsi@mozcom.com
Please send me some information on the
speakers. Specs, dimensions and cost
would be great. Looking for dorm set-up.
Thanks.
Yes, it can. Go to RutledgeAudio.com and tell Brian that Randy sent ya. He specializes in GR-Research's AV1, but I think he's done the Paradox as well. :^)
I agree, get Brian at Rutledge to do the cabinets if you want a custom finish. I think my P1 were the first ones he made and they look awsome in the medium mahogany finish. Brian is also a great guy to deal with!
The P1 are very amazing speakers for their size. The music just sounds more realistic IMO and the bass is satisfying.
