Has anyone ever done any real listening test?To determine the difference between poly caps, and standard non-polarized caps. The type you would pay less than a dollar for.
Out of all the years I have been constructing speakers,I've never noticed a real differnce, but I've never performed a real test either.

I have noticed a difference with Solens vs. nonlytics from radio shack!! But one high quality cap vs another-aaaahhhh NO. I can hear the trollin -a- cominA vicious debate to the death about caps. This is were DIYers start to take it as personal, don't mess with my Solens caps or I'll.....

Are you saying that there is no diferance between a Solen and say a Hovland, or Jensen????
Very little with a completed unit. Between the baffling, gaskets, cabinet construction and other variables-very little. On a bench I'm sure you could measure minor differences. In use on quality brand sounds just as well as the next (quality brand not radio shack).

Well.....I don't know what a Rat Shack cap sounds like, but i do know what some very pricey speakers with Solen caps in the signal path sound like! Beside my own work, i do a lot of mods, mostly on ProAc. ProAc uses only solen on there Response series speakers, and for example, swaping out just the 3.3 and the 5.0uf solens in the 1SC, and replacing them with Hovlands, is a HUGE diferance! My 14year non-audiophile daughter could hear the diference! So i find your opinion quite puzzling?? But it's just that, your opinion.....Paulie
