In Reply to: Re: Speaker mods - Dynaco A-25 - Dahlquist DQ-10 posted by ka7niq on July 24, 2002 at 14:19:59:
I have 2 Carver TFM-15's, a Hafler DH-500, Adcom GFA555-II, HK PA-2100 and a Jolida JD-1501. Which do you think will sound best with the DQ's? I would try each at a time, but it's a real bear because the entertainment center I got to satisfy significant other weighs in at about 800 lbs loaded and the reconnects are tough.
Follow Ups:
And my other speakers are Genesis III's, Large Advents, Fried Beta IV's, Klipsch KG 5.2's and B&W DM1800's. Would any of them sound best teamed up with any particular amp?
I dont know about all those speakers!
Bob Carver told me that he and Jon Dahlquist are friends, and I do know about the Phase 400 and the Dahlquists, that was a very cmmon combo in its day, and I was around in its day.
Perhaps some of the other knowledgeable people here could recommend something, or have some experience with them.
Good Luck Kyle, and I see there is a person answering your post that can help you mod them too!
Happy soldering
Chris!
To tell you the truth, none of em!
The adcom and haflers imaging stink, the carver is too mushy, and jolida lacks the power.
Of all of them, perhaps the hafler, but the hafler has a glaze to it.
IF you want to keep em, find you a 400 phase linear, and sit back and smile.
The combo is magic, kinda like old klipsch and old MacIntosh tube amps.
Remember, Carver and Jon Boy Dahlquist were friends, the 400 was the voicing amp, why fool around?
