I'm sitting here in a recording studio looking at the July/August issue of AUDIO MEDIA magazine at a review of the new digital line from Dynaudio Acoustics (http://www.dynaudioacoustics.com/) and TC Electronic.http://www.dynaudioacoustics.com/Files/Downloads/AIR_brochure.pdf
Nice stuff. A Miniature Meridian 8000 system. We're thinking they might give the Genelec system we're using here quite a run, as they're half the price... If you can get a good discount on these they'd be killer.
Class G switching internal amps with Cat-5 input. And a heckuva nice remote...

I am thinking of ordering a pair of the Dynaudio BM6A's! I would use these for home, so no need for the air versions. I was in a toss up between the BM6A's and the BM15A's (10" midwoofers), but feel that the BM6A's combined with an active sub would be perhaps more musical (I don't know as I haven't even heard any of these Dyn's).Currently I have Paradigm Active/20's which I am very happy with, but there's this gnawing notion that active Dynaudio monitors would just be freakishly awesome! Before these came out it was my audio fantasy to have Dynaudio active monitors powered by McIntosh amps. Yummmm. Guess these are the closest, sign me up!
One question would be, I wonder what active sub would go well with either my Paradigms or these Dynaudios? Velodyne HGS-12? Hmn...
Dynaudio offers a sub that matches the BM6A. (I think it's called BX-30??) The sub isn't very pretty, though. But then, the BM6A won't win any beauty contests, either. The subwoofer has a big waffle grill over the woofer and a big open round port in front. I'm wary of big open holes in furniture that sits on a floor....never know what kind of bass-loving critter or furry bug is going to move into it and set up house. The sub appears to have excellent x-over controls and ins/outs.
I noticed the matching subs they offer, esp. the air base 1. I wonder how Dynaudio is with subs though. Might be the best match however. I talked with the owner of www.macmidimusic.com, and he said the BM15A is quite good without a sub, and says it is great compared to the BM6A w/ sub. I'd personally have to listen to the 2 arrangements, but then again maybe BM15A's with a 12" sub would be the killer arrangement.
I think it's a pretty carefully designed as a system. I'd use the Dyn sub. If the crossovers of the non AIR versions have the same parametric eq built in that's the deal...This is a nearfield design. You should be able to dial in near ruler-flat response.

I was thinking that after a while, best to not 2nd guess the engineers sometimes. I've made up my mind- Air 6's and the Air Base 1! Will post some impressions, starting with the Air 6's first, and then when I add the Base 1. yumm.
You could add one sub, and then another later...I bet you'll be very happy. Is this just for listening or production as well?
