One of my freinds said they saw a 32" or 36" sub in a bug. They took out the back seats to fit it in.The biggest sub i Heard was a 24"
Turbosound. Has anyone ever seen or heard of a sub this big.
Follow Ups:
Audio Bahn makes a 34 inch subwoofer. The only down fall is it cost near 2k. Its I think it handles like 5000 RMS
Dear anilperumal,I have seen subs this big (one 32" driver is manufactured by Fostex, for instance).
From my experience, they produce extremely deep bass and can play very loud, but lack the refinement of subwoofers using (perhaps several) smaller drivers.
What type of subwoofer are you looking for? If you let me know what you want, I'm pretty sure I can help you.Sincerely,

I am thinking of getting a SV Subwoofer Cs-ultra or a CS-plus. I would get one and later on get another one. These have 1 12" driver each. I was thinking of powering it with a crown k2 amp. The k2 has a damping factor of over 3,000 to 400hz and 500 watts a channel 8ohm.These subs would be mainly for Music playback but could be used for dvd movie or live music.I was thinking of getting maybe a velodyne or a JBL pro
2x15" cabinet or an 1x18" cabinet. The JBL pros have high Levels but they go down to about 38hz.the SV Subwoofer gos down to 16HZ and below. They would be complementing JBL pro speakers that start to drop of arround 50hz. JBL 2206h,2118h,2426h in a cabinet.I maybe making acabinet with 2-12"s,2-8"s,Horn Driver,2404h tweeter.I would like to play pipe organ music thru the system.
Dear anilperumal,Please describe me the listening room and subwoofer placement.
I will try to find the best drivers for you, but I must know your budget limit since if you want to play pipe organ (16 Hz) in realistic volume levels you would have to use multiple drivers, which could get expensive.

EV made a 30" woofer but it had a high FS. Not good if you want 10 cycles.

I had an EV 30W, the Fs=16hz.With it mounted in the wall and a 35 cu ft box with a 12" dia port 13.5" long on the front side of the cone the -3dB points are 9~43hz.It is also almost 100dB/W/1M.
pretty impressive DJK! so front chamber about 18Hz?
(think George Wright used one in sealed box with MIDI...)
Yeah, about 18~19hz on the front chamber. Now if you want some real output a type 6A with 100/50 cu ft with an Fb of 19/37hz gives an F3 of 20~50hz and 105dB/W/1M without room gain.Without room gain the type 4, 8hz box is only 90dB.A real novelty, I should have kept it.Sold it for $200 about four years ago.
WOW! I looked at published specs a while back and the fs was in the 30's?What'd you do with it? Seems like something to keep.
Mike Bates
A retired organ buff wanted one for his collection. For $200 I should have kept it.Put it in a 50 cu ft box with an F=22hz and an F3=31hz.With a Vas=210 cu ft, 50 cu ft was about as small as you could go.I just play with this stuff a while and then let it go down the road.Want to play with an M4? I got a spare you could borrow.
Sure! I'd love to compare it to the Adamson some time. I'll shoot you an email after i get my 4-way system working again. Thanks
Mike Bates
One of the recommended setups for this monster was a 64 cu ft box. No port, but the woofer was turned to the wall with a 2-3" spacing to slot load the monster. Like being in an iron lung.E-V used it in the later non-corner non-horn version of the Patrician.
