Hosing down your speakers? If the bottom is sealed well enough to keep sand in, it will keep water out. The top fill holes can be covered with tape if the speakers are not going to be flush with the stand.

won't the litter eventually soak water from the air?
No. Lots of people use it in speaker stands. It isnt an original idea with me. But, it's a rare speaker stand that will let enough air in to worry about. If the bottom is sealed and you put some strong tape over the fill hole, how will the air get in?If I lived in Houston or Florida I might have thought more about this. But I live in the desert (Los Angeles). Almost no humidity all the way up the beach.
Couldn't you use hot wax and some sort of plug to close the fill hole... like a cork or something?Ryan
