Hi,I am new to the high-end game, but had enjoyed the sound from my friends' included ATC, ProAC Response, Audio Physics. Then I heard the Dynaudio line and love the way they sound. I am wondering what's the opinion/advice regarding Contour 3.3 vs. Confidence 5? Able to find both models used for not much of $ difference.
Please advice and also suggest the amp choices. Thank you.

Re Tomers Reply...I was wondering when a replacement would come out, the C5's have been around for awhile...and the company makes no effort to promote them.
I can tell you though, I wouldn't rush out to buy the new unit...
To me, what the current model lacks is sexiness...they look pretty bland, and bass extension. The latter I have taken care of with a sub...I paid $4000 for my C5s, and they were in perfect shape...
For the midrange, highs, and placement flexibility...they are a great value...I would suspect any replacement to be in the 10-15K range.
Put the extra money into the electronics!
My 2 cents worth...

Hi,Two weeks ago I saw a picture of the new model. It's going to be a smaller version of the Evidence, with only two woofers.
Hi,In CES, Dynaudio is going to introduce a new speaker that will replace the C5.
I found the C5 to be in a whole other league than the 3.3. The 3.3 has the advantage of considerably more bass extension, but at the cost of detail, musicality and soundstaging. They seem "flabby" by comparison. I'd say that Rickster's approach of using C5s plus sub could approach nirvana, if done correctly for the listening room.I might have done that myself, had it been within my budget. I like the C5s very much.

I recently went through some of the same decision making processes. I listened to the 3.0 and like it very much, though there were some aspects of its ported bass I did not like. The knock I have heard on the 3.3 is that the bass is not especially well integrated into dynaudio's consistently escellent and smooth midrange. My listening room is a bit of a problem as it is my main living space also...therefore, I have to keep the speakers within several feet of the back wall.
My solution was to get the Confidence 5's (sealed enclosure) and a subwoofer. I will likely upgrade the sub at some point, but I have gotten surprisingly good results with an Energy 12...
This has allowed me maximum flexibility with placement. I can tell you one thing, though, I would not be satisfied with the bass of the Confidence 5 without the sub.
I am driving them with an Ayre V5, and using a Cary 303/100 CD. A very sweet sound, but still with incredible resolution.
Good Luck,
Rick
