Hi, Fishmatisse:Thanks for the kind words, but a eulogy is a little premature, O. S. Services, Inc. is still conducting business, importing and distributing Audion, Advanced Magnetic Power, Cadence, Designs Unlimited, Samuel Johnson, and Shearne Audio, and I'll be picking up some new lines after the first of the year. You can visit www.ossaudio.com to check things out. Anyone know of a really good, unheard of dynamic speaker line looking for a U.S. importer distributor? It seems I have an available space on my dance card . . .
I enjoyed developing the Reynaud brand in the North American market, maybe next time around the vendor will stay with me after all the initial financial investment and hard work necessary to establish an unknown brand has been done . . . Reynaud was literally unheard of in the U.S. three years ago, when I picked up the line, and now it is definitely branded and moving up the high-end hierarchy.
Look for upcoming reviews of the Offrande and Twin Mk 2 in The Absolute Sound, Evolution 3 in Listener, Twin Mk 2 in Stereophile, and other reviews, all of which were done with product that I paid for and supplied, and now the new distributor and the factory will receive the benefit of these reviews and I'll get bupkiss (sp?) . . . ain't life a "biatch"?
Oh well, c'est la vie, n'est ce pas? Toujours l'amour d'argent. . .
Best regards, Randy Bankert - O. S. Services, Inc.
Follow Ups:
The Twins are one of the best buys in audio, and you're endless advice really helped a lot of us get optimal use of of them - room modes, positioning, cables, etc. As far as I've seen, you have always gone miles beyond what the position called for, even when there is no money or a sale in it for you, which shows honesty and a true love of audio.Reynaud's loss in a big way.
I can't wait to see what unsung line you carry next.
I've heard Avance was having problems with distribution in the US. I bought a pair of their monitors about two years ago and I'm still impressed. I haven't listened to all of their speakers, but I know they attempt to make good quality speakers at fair prices. Their speakers use Scan-Speak and Vifa drivers and are made in Denmark. Here is their link:

Randy,
To my knowledge,Royd loudspeakers currently have no US distributor. The line has gone a bit more upscale from its earlier offerings with the new Revelation series. The lineup consists of 3 models( a minimonitor, a medium sized standmount and a floorstander) so inventorying should be quite managable. The company already enjoys a small but devout cult following amoungst some circles. The new series should broaden its appeal and popularity with a little TLC.
Best,
Ken
Randy,
Sorry to hear of the change in dealership -- it remains an open question as to whether the new distributor will live up to your level of service.
I was seriously considering Reynauds, but at this point, see no need to support a company that does not treat members of the distribution network equitably. Thanks for the heads up -- I'll be looking elsewhere for my next pair of bookshelves to express my disappointment with the change in distributor.
Certainly wish you the best in future endeavors with O.S.S.!
Living Voice and Harbeth currently have spotty or no distribution in the U.S. Chario of Italy does not to my knowledge have a U.S. distributor.
Bluebird Music is distributing Living Voice in the US and Canada. They demonstrated a pair of LV Avatars at the Stereophile show in NYC in May.
