Faced with a very good offer from my dealer--full value on the N802 toward trading up for the N800--I am trying to resist the temptation by not demoing the things. My curiosity got the better of me today and I decided to have a quick look on my lunch hour. The workmanship and build is really several notches above the others in the series. They make the N802 seem fragile by comparison! I ran out of there before listening. If they sound as improved as it appears they are. . .Any words of wisdom from those who have heard the N800 as for whether this upgrade is "worth" it? Is resistance futile?
Follow Ups:
Hi,Everytime that I've heard the 801, the room has been too small. I get the feeling that they sound kind of boomy and need a big room and space to properly resolve the highs. I find myself wanting to hear them in a big warehouse somewhere, - of course some would say that I lean towards a brighter system.
Hey Greg, I've demoed them twice. The first time I was enthralled with 'em and posted my thoughts here, and a week or so later, I had one of the worst demos I've ever experienced when I was expecting so much more. Same room, same gear, but both demos the speakers had less than 100 hours on them, so I attribute most of my complaints from the second demo to break-in. I'm going to head back soon enough to get a third listen, as well as a first listen to another pair that are set up with different gear out at an old friend's shop in burlingame, just to get another perspective. Have to say that the kharma's have the leg up at this point though.
Hi,Well, never heard it, never seen it in flesh.
Still, in our hobby "worthiness" and "value for money" are not really that high on our list.On my list at least ! (Sorry, couldn't resist)Perhaps "pride of ownership" ?
But, come on, go and listen to the damned thing !! Tell us how it performs !
Please ?
Regards
Vasilis
