I' searching a speaker system for my PassLabs ALEPH 5 amplifier.
My room is about 3.5m X 4.1m X 2.7m (11.5ft. X 13.5ft. X 9ft.).
I've heard the Proac Response 2.5, I like them very much.
What do you think about the compatibility in my system?
Thans to everybody.
Follow Ups:
Never tried with the 5, but been living with the 2.5 with the Aleph 3 for several months. The 3 never bought the speaker to life. I think it is because the lowish 30 watts.I tried several amps Krell 100, Aragon 8008, ARC Classic 30, ARC VT60, Aleph 3, and finally found the match - Plinius 100mkII (II hadn't come out back then). The Plinius and the ProAc 2.5 is a match made in heaven. Bass impact, extended treble, lush mids, superb imaging.
I sold both of them to my cousin, he's still very happy with it today.
"The 3 never bought the speaker to life."A friend of mine has the same experience with Aleph 2+ Response 3...lifeless, no slam, etc.

Hi,
I am thinking to mate 2.5 with a plinius integrated
amp 8200. Any comments ?
I had my 2.5 driven by Plinius 8150 with excellent result. Extended bass(more extended than driven by Krell KSA 100S), silky high and warm but clean mid. More importantly, the compo gave me more pleasure to listen to any type of music. 2.5 are very capable to produce high quality bass if you can find the right amp. Plinius is one of them. Cheers.
Thanks for your reply....
Do you think that this is a problem caused by the low output power of the Aleph 3, or maybe the Response 2.5 are not the ideal speaker system for this kind of amplifier?
Someone told me that they are a little "shy", withdrawn...
Thanks again.
Iīm certain this combo sounds good, but 30W and a speaker with a sens. of about 83dB is not the "perfect" solution.I believe the Aleph3 is lively with high sens. speakers.
I tried Aleph5 once, and it also sounded a little tired compared to my class A Zapsolutes. However the Aleph2 is on par with my amps with dynamics, not as clear though.
If you have the money maybe biamp with two 3īs?

the 2.5s claim 86db sensitivity, not 83.
I think Stereophiles measurements indicates about 83dB.However 30W with 86dB isnīt perfect either.

Thanks to all, really.
Excepts for SPL restriction(my room is not a big one) do you consider this combo good-sounding?
I have yet an Aleph5 modified, I listened the ProaAc 2.5 few time ago, and I liked them.
Now it's happened to me a good opportunity to buy them, but I can't try with my amps...
What would you do?
You'll love the 2.5,
they give you those magical moments when the notes comes to you with speed and accuracy that is so life like.I'm still regret parting with it, may be i'll buy one again.
: )
Just a tips, if your into DIY, then Dillonacoustics has some all Accuton kits going on his site.
IMO these speakers outperform ProAcīs by a lot.
I had a two way like that with the C92 7" and C23 1.25" tweeter, and with the Aleph 5 it produced a sound that was unbelievably good./Peter
Thanks to everbody,I've got an idea about this, I hope this, at last! :-)
Best regards
