Ok, I now have both of these speakers in house and can make some comparisons. The Spendor is lighter and has a much airier, open sound. It also is able to dissapper better. The ProAc has a much, much deeper bottom than the Spendor. The ProAc's tweeter is different from the Spendor's. The ProAc has a very viberant, forward quality to it. I would say the ProAc's tweeter sounds "silky". The Spendor goes a long way toward not sounding like a speaker at all. The ProAc sounds like a very high quality speaker. I'm not sure if this is a good discreption but if you are chasing a stereo that gets out of the way and just leaves the music, you would probably want the Spendor. If your the type of audiophile who likes a refined, high quality "stereo", you might find the ProAc more your thing. Both of these speakers are of excellent quality. As far as fit & finish, both are very nice with the edge going to the ProAc. The wood on the ProAc is so smooth, it feels like marble. The Spendor has more of a craftmans look and feel to it. Both are very, very well made.I'd have to say, at this point, I think I prefer the ProAc. It's fuller range and forward presentation really appeals to me. It makes the music "light up". Both are exceptional speakers.

Just wondered if both these speakers are thoroughly broken in or are they at different stages of break in? Thanks.
I bought the Spendor's new and they are around 3 months old now, the stereo in my bedroom stays on so I'd have to think their pretty well broken in at this point. I bought the ProAc's used. The guy I bought them from say's their about 6 months old with very little use so I'm not so sure about them, they may get better yet. Equipment being used includes an LFD Mistral integrated amp, an NAD C350 integrated amp, Adcom GCD700 cd player, Adcom GFT555ii tuner, Audioquest Coral interconnects, Audioquest CV-4 speakerwire [bi-wired], MIT Terminator 4 speakerwire [bi-wired]. The speakers are in a room around 11' x 14'. Its a bedroom so there's a lot of other stuff in it. I'm using lead shot filled 24" standesign stands. The speakers sit about 15-16 inches from the back wall and maybe 4 feet from side walls. Again, the Spendor's just dissapper while the ProAc's sound very full, warm, and silky. Both are quite seductive. Hope this helps.
