How does one remove water marks/rings left by a glass, on mahogany veneered tower speakers?

Seriously, go with the flow!

... left from tanins rising in oil rubbed wood veneer: Oxalic acid wood bleach.
Savogran brand used to good effect on ribbon mahogany Cornwalls.
Refinish required.

I recently bought a product from Home Depot that removes water marks/swirls from furniture. Basically, it's just a saturated cloth that comes in a resealable pouch, and i was pretty amazed how well it removed a water stain from the top of my CD rack, which is a light oak. The watermark had been there for years. If Home Depot doesn't have it, try your local Lowe's.

worked well for me...

I had a pair of AR 2ax's at one time that suffered from the same problem. They were oiled walnut, not lacquer or varnish. I tried Scotts Liquid Gold, light rubbing with 0000 steel wool, and finally sanding with 400 grit and re-oiling with tung oil. Nothing really worked. If your finish is lacquer, you might try rubbing with a little toothpaste to see if it will remove the ring. Not trying to discourage you though. You might try a post on the finishing forum at www.woodmagazine.com. Steve Mickley has forgotten more than most of us will ever know about finishing wood. Maybe he can help.

Do you know what type of finish is on the speaker & is the mark white or dark.

The type of finish on the Mahogany veneer? Who knows? I bought the pair at the local goodwill store, and it seems to me ( but I'm no expert ) that it was just stained with something, and that's it. From what I can tell there was no protective top coat applied. What I did when I bought the pair was slightly sanded the surface with fine steel wool, then applied 2 coats of Butchers Wax. I just rubbed the wax on, let it dry, then buffed to a nice sheen.
The water mark/ring turned the wood a pale white color.
Would any of you try dipping a rag in laquer thinner or mineral spirits, rub the area where the mark is, let it dry out, sand, then buff with wax?????

Ok,
Ok,I'am going to take a guess. It's mahogany with some type of oil finish, (Tung ?) & the mark was dark (moisture has made it down through the finish) before you rubbed some other stuff into it & turned it white. If that is the case, you will have to strip the surface, bleach out the stain & refinish to match. It can be done, but then again, you have to know what your dealing with in the first place. So many finishes, so little time.
the active ingredients are fullers earth and mineral spirits - it acts to draw moisture from the finish while the fullers earth acts as a mild abrasive to polish the problem area.I bought mine at either Home Depot or Lowe's one of the two...
