I'm planning on purchasing some used 3a's, am I flirting with disaster by letting the current owner ship them FedEx ground? Anyone have experience with this or recommndations. I've had better luck with UPS, but not much.
Follow Ups:
I stopped shipping UPS couple years ago due to a pair of Monitor Audio floorstanders being destroyed then a pair of B & W floorstanders not long after.
In 2005 I shipped a pair of Vandy 3ASigs from PA to Florida.
I shipped them in their original boxes banded and shrink wrapped on a skid by FED X freight. They arrived in perfect condition. Richard V sends his speakers to dealers that way or at least he did back then.
I did the same thing with Silver Line Sonata III's PA TO CA and they arrived pefect. John K, Kloss shipped me a pair of his Back loaded Horns 125lbs each the same way and the arrived perfect. Pay a little more for freight or have your speakers arrived in ???? condition.
..our vandersteen dealer said he prefers FedEx due to "less tattered" boxes on arrival.I can't help but wonder though, if it's the same as auto repair, where it's the individual, not the shop working on your car that determines how satisfied you'll be.
