I am wondering if the 15wpc Sonic Impact Super-T Amp would be enough to drive my alpha B1s (91dB sensitivity) to a reasonably dynamic level.I want to try the class D craze and would consider the super T amp as long as it could drive my alpha B1s to a good level.
Follow Ups:
Its distortion rises very fast after 6 watts.I agree with the Trends TA-10 recommendation. Same Tripath chip, same power, probably better components, and better form factor. I use a Trends with 82 db LS3/5a's in my bedroom. Loud enough to scare the neighbors!
.
All depends on how loud your want to run your speakers. If you look at the specs, the SI have very high THD over about 6wpc. That being said, I really like mine, but my speakers are 115db sen.
Should not be a problem as long as you are not trying to fill a huge room with sound. In regards to the chip amp, I would reccomend checking out the Trends Audio TA-10.1. It is really, really good IMO.
I like it better than the Super T.
