How long does it take to get a Vandersteen crossover made?
I've been waiting three weeks and I'm getting the feeling it will be a while. I ordered it through a Vandersteen dealer in NJ since threre are none in Mass. Could I have ordered it directly from Vandesteen? You would think they would keep a supply on hand in the most common values.

I waited about 2 months for a model 5 crossover for my 2wq's. Richard makes many of these crossovers personally. In my case, Vandersteen was out of some of the necessary components to make the Xovers so it took quite a while.I'm curious if you have considered the model 5 crossover instead of the 2's. I have the 2's in my closet. Once you've heard the 5's you'll never go back.
When we ordered our X-2s we thought we were really stepping up, then later read about the HP-5s here and thought 'how could have we missed those?'I went to Vandersteen's site to learn more, and it became clear, there's nothing there :-(
Don't feel bad...the only way I became aware of the HP-5's was from reading the FAQs on Vandersteen's site. It is hard to figure why Richard V. doesn't have an accessory page on the website that talks about the different Xovers and what they're about. I have X-2's that I used for about a year before i learned of the 5's. I must admit that if you are willing to invest the $600 to get them they are a definite step up, sonically. The most notable improvement was in the area of overall transparency. Also, the 5's are adjustable much like the WX-2 Xover box that comes with the 2wq's. So...if you change amps in the future and your new amp has a different input impedance, you can keep the 5 and just adjust it accordingly.Again...check out the Vandersteen FAQ section for info. on the HP-5.
Order them!Cheers
