An yone care to comment if a receiver -old Fisher 800- rated @ 33 watts is sufficient power for these speakers. Noticed comments on the AR3 requirements on the Vintage page and wonder if that advice can be applied to my speakers,i.e. power minimums. Thanks

I used to own a pair of 2ax's eons ago. I ran them successfully in a moderate sized room with a Dyna Stereo 70 (35 wpc) and then a Dyna SCA-80 (40 wpc). The stereo 70 doesn't really develop full rated power at the frequency extremes, so bass was better with the solid state SCA-80, which developed full rated power 20-20K.I doubt that the Fisher receivers develop full rated power throughout their bandwidth, but only at 1KHz, so I would consider the receiver in this application to be marginal, unless you listen to chamber music at modest volume levels in a fairly small room.
Might be a good question to post here. Good luck!
...on how loud you like your music. I used to own the 2ax's and powered them with a Marantz 1060 integrated rated at 30 watts/channel. Adequate for loud listening in an apartment or bedroom, but moved to a 15' x 20' living room and I blew the AR's tweeters.
