I just replaced the tweeters in my Snell model C speakers with what I thought were similar enough in specs to sound the same, well they don't,the speakers now sound a bit bright, here are the specs of the tweeters - originals Vifa 3/4" impedance 8ohms DC resistance 6.2ohms 89db spl,new - Morel 1 1/8" impedance 8ohms DC resistance 5.9ohms 90db spl. What kind of change ( add resistors or caps) could I make to the crossover to make up the difference between the tweeters to get them back to there smooth non bright sound?
Follow Ups:
Many Snell speakers have adjustable slidebar resistors in the network, check and adjust.
Snell speakers always perform much better than the sum of the parts.
I have taken the drivers out and there is nothing special about the cabinet construction. I was told that the sound quality comes from painstaking selection of drive units, and crossovers so that the pair are perfectly matched to each other.Replacing with different tweeters has probably disturbed the fine balance. You may get it back, or you may not till you replace like with like.
Cood luck.
