Yes, I've read your reasoning down below but it's illogical.Name the retailer and anyone reading this forum already knows you've had decent service from one assistant, your experience is with the ownerm and the shop in general can be fine to visit; stating that you don't want to condemn the whole shop insinuates those reading your (entirely justified) complaint aren't able to make the distinction between the owner and the shop as a whole.
If you think the readers of your post might be idiots unable to discern simple sentences maybe you shouldn't use this forum to express your displeasure in future, as every retailer in your area will now be 'under suspicion'.
Follow Ups:
A while back I ranted over a shop here in Vancouver. But in reality it was just one salesman and it could have been a bad day - or I read what he was saying incorrectly. Or Perhaps it was I that was expecting more than I should have.Howewever, you should be allowed to listen to your cds. That is quite strange indeed. Which would make me conclude the speakers are either totally unforgiving - or only sound good with a very narrow type of sound. Lots of other dealers and lots of other speakers. And the owner of the shop is responsible for who they hire...Moral...Hire better people and you won't have these complaints.
I simply don't want to hear bickering and complaining about dealers without knowing who the dealer is... What purpose does it serve? There's little entertainment value in reading about someone's bad purchasing experience.I recently had a bad experience, as well as a great experience at 2 different local hifi dealers. I wrote a lengthy post, naming the store locations and describing my experiences. I then sent a link to the post to the manufacturers involved in that purchase decision (unfortunately, neither dealership has web presence, so I could not e-mail them directly).
I think the asylum members as well as the manufacturers and the dealers have a right to hear what happened, and then make up their own minds.
It's also worth bearing in mind that there are two sides to every story, and who's to say the complainant in this case bought one CD player from the store in question many months/years ago and has used the shop in question to audition many items since only to buy elsewhere?Maybe he spends all day auditioning then asks for massive discounts because he's seen it for $XXXX on the net?
There are many scenarios that COULD have taken place earlier to put the shop owner in a bad mood, and IF the shop was identified I'm sure someone would let him know and the the owner would put his own point of view across on this forum IF he had a case.
Maybe that's why the shop hasn't been identified?
Best Regards,
Chris Redmond.
Hi Chris,You're very right that there are 2 sides to every story. It's a very justifiable statement. I did not post the name of the shop, cos I simply felt that it might have been interpreted as shop bashing.
In my defence, I've only been in that shop twice. The first time when I went to buy my CD player, and I was assisted by this wonderful, friendly lady(Who let me listen to my own CDs). She took the time out to let me try different models and even gave me a nice discount after the hour or more of listening. Thus I was glad to give the shop my repeat business(it also helped that they carried the speakers I wanted). Which led to my second and (definitely) last encounter with this shop.
No doubt there are many more senarios to have made this salesman/owner give me bad service. I COULD have smeared goo on his equipment, I could have taken $2K in one dollar bills and offered to pay my bill with it, I could have been so fat I couldn't fit into his door and he had to take out his window pane to let me in. Then again, I could have been totally polite and have been treated badly.
"I could have taken $2K in one dollar bills and offered to pay my bill with it".I believe he would have been very happy to receive cash whatever the denomination. :0)
If you only visited the shop twice there isn't really any excuse for your treatment at the hands of the salesman/owner, and if there is he can now put his case forward.
Still, his loss is the gain of whatever retailer you will now use so best of luck with your speaker purchase and here's hoping you don't have any problems with your CD player that require it's return to the original retailer.
