I want to try out the Audua speaker workshop shareware but, never tried to hook anything to my PC soundcard. How does one do it?

Also, you might only have on output from the soundcard. So you'll need an 1/8" to 1/8" splitter if you want to have the computer speakers and also your main stereo connected. Then you have to mute the volume on one source (or change input), and then use the other source.
Get a cable (at Radio Shack, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc) with a 1/8 stereo miniplug on one end (like on walkman headphones) and two male RCA plugs on the other end. Plug the 1/8 miniplug into the soundcard "line out" jack. Plug the two RCA plugs into an unused line-level preamp input (anything except phono.) Set the volume with the PC volume control panel. You may have to enable the 'line out' on the volume control panel by clicking the checkbox if it is not already selected. If the cable isn't long enough, use a headphone extender cable. Here's a picture of the type of cable to look for:
Disregard that bit about the checkbox, there is no checkbox for line out, at least not on my volume control panel.
