In Reply to: Speaker recommendations needed: detailed, punchy, warm, accurate, efficient???? Help!! posted by Mr Blue Sky on May 25, 2003 at 19:22:38:
Blue Sky asks for a recommendation, I write:
"Have You Tried Axioms?" "A nice pair of Axiom M60s or M80s might do you nicely."Blue Sky graciously responds with ...
"A) I'm really trying to avoid metal cones and tweeters.
B) I'm not really interested in poor quality mid-fi products."OK! Ouch! Fooled me into feeding a troll.
I see folks continue to recommend Axioms to Blue Sky. I don't think Blue Sky should get Axioms. Maybe some used Bose 901s with an oversized label would be a good match. They're not too bright either.

Look, cool cat, it's really quite simple. I really appreciate all the recommendations, including the Axioms. All of the suggestions inspire me to look at the products, read the reviews, examine the specs and technology, and therefore I learn something. If I didn't want advice, why would I post in the first place? What is puzzling is people like you who don't bother to read my original post and simply want to brag about their favorite speaker. That is counterproductive and a waste of everyone's time. If you really wanted to help me choose a speaker, I would think that you would pay attention to things I've said such as "preferably with a soft dome tweeter", "their footprint is too large for the space that I intend to use them", "I'm really trying to avoid metal cones and tweeters". So you see, I'm really not interested in Axiom speakers. If you've found a product that you like and that works for you, that is fantastic. I'm not there yet, so please go listen to some music, enjoy your Axiom speakers, and stop crapping my thread.
This is what I think, yes it's me again, you have no idea what you like. This is why people give examples of their favorite speakers, they have found something that could save you money, and is worth while to audition. But you just cast these suggestions aside. God forbid someone with more experience could be right. If you go listen and still don't like them, then fine, but don't just ridicule them for trying to give you advice. All you have to do is thank them for their advice and if you don't agree just ignore it. Very simple, everyone is happy, and you don't piss anyone off.Gataca
BTW, I'm not saying that everything Klipsch makes is great, but I don't think you can put them in the same catagory as KLH. But I'm guessing you haven't listened to anything they make, because you apparently "know" what you like. So it's worthless to spend your precious time on auditioning such an inferior product.
I have 2 HT systems, a 7.2 and a 6.1, 3 stereo systems, that's a lot of speakers and of them all, I currently own a single pair of Axioms (M2e's).A recommendation that a pair of Axioms might do nicely for you could only appear "bragging" to someone with a personality defect.
Personally, I'm glad you're not considering Axiom speakers ... I think they'd be too good for you.
Yeah, that's it. They'd be too good for me. Right. Okay, I'll make sure to avoid them. Thanks.
