I need to know the dimensions (LxWxH) of the marble supports which were used in the previous model of the Grand Pianos. I intend to elevate my speakers but the original base supports are too costly so I will have my local marble suppliers fabricate something similar. Grateful if any current owners would take the trouble to post the info. Thank You.
Follow Ups:
Those original bases are made from soft sedimentary stones like slate/limestone as opposed to harder (more brittle and ringy) metamorhphic rocks like marble or igneous rocks (granite).
I could have, but since you have the info, I will just add this:The original GPs had small indentions in the sedementary stones. Be sure to replicate that so the spikes have something to seat on. If you don't, your GPs could slide off of the stones and spell disaster with the slightest bump...
Thanks for the tip, Lex. Appreciate your advice.
Sure, np.Yet again, adding this:
I would say to make the marks, take the spike rail off the bottom of one of the speakers, then use something to mark it with. Probably what I would do is put masking tape over the marble, then gently lower tri-pod onto stone, making sure to center it, sit it gently in place, then apply pressure onto the tape with the points. Remove the tri-pod, make the mark heavy with ink (on tape), then your set to drill the correct holes.
Alternately, you could make a template of some kind, and get the markings that way. Then place the template on the stones.
I've found the info already. Please ignore post. Thanks.
So what did you find out? And have you considered using Molly Toes under the factor spikes
