Irecently purchased a used pair of Avalon Eidolon speakers. They were about 2 1/2 years old. At first, say for the first few weeks, certain electric guitar riffs, such as on the Eagles "Already Gone", would be rendered with a forceful, dynamic upper midrange energy that would dominate the soundstage. Then ,almost suddenly, this character changed and the energy, while still there, seemed much less forceful. My guess is that the speakers, though two years old, were not fully broken in, but I'm also wondering if I'm losing some midrange output. As it is now the speakers sound more evenly balanced now, just with less presence. Thanks.

What other equipment are you using? Maybe you have some tube gear, where the tubes are acting up and/or need replacing.Have you checked to make sure all your speaker connections are tight?
Don't rule out Allergies or some temporary Sinus problems.
Just a few things to think about.
Have a great day,
As an Eidolon owner did you listen/compare the diamond to the standard ceramic? Impressions?
