I have a pair of mint 25 year old Large Advent speakers. I have read that the foam surrounds on these speakers deteriorate with age. How can I tell if my speakers need new surrounds? I play them infrequently, but when I do they sound like the day I got them. Any help would be appreciated.

  Best way to check would be to take a flashlight to the grill to examine the woofer (if the surrounds are deteriorated it should be very obvious via this visual inspection) or remove the speaker grill. If the surrounds are falling apart, torn, or gone... youwill need to take the woofer out and find a driver repair company which will be able to repair/replace the surrounds.
