A few months back I purchased a Vacuum State modded Sony 9000ES SACD player from Gander2 (Gary Anderson), a seller on Audiogon with perfect feedback. When I received the player it would not play the SACD layers of over 50% of the disks I fed it. At first the seller refused to take responsibility for the defect saying it was a known Sony issue and the player was functioning normally. After much protesting on my part, he then insisted I take steps to have it repaired before he would consider a return. After multiple attempts, all with his consent, the player continued to malfunction. His response then was to claim that "now that I have obviously tampered with it, he couldn't possibly take it back."Following this incident I have left negative feedback for Gander2 and also opened a dispute. The feedback was never posted and the dispute (following a response and a rebuttal where I caught him in several lies backed up by saved emails) was summarrily canceled with no explanation.
Just today, I left another negative feedback covering the same incident (in violation of their policy) in order to see if I would get any response.

I had similar, very frustrating experience with audiogon's dispute resolution process and feedback system -- about six months ago.The dispute resolution process proceeded quite differently from the way it's described on audiogon's website. A final resolution, which took the seller's side, was made without even letting me see the seller's reply to my dispute, let alone respond to it.
I too tried to post negative feedback which was ignored by audiogon. I asked to correct this twice but received no reply. I believe that audiogon is protecting some sellers deliberately by ignoring negative feedback.

The current system is useless.
I gave a neg awhile, did it get posted? F no,but really i could care less ,why because i sure as hell wouldnt buy anything from this guy again,he cant pack equipment correctly in the first place.I got lucky with fedex because they paid the claim.

I purchased a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 800 ATV from Ira Berman in Wheeling Illinois (iberman33@aol.com) through eBay on Dec.21 2006. I was instructed through e-mail with him that he was running all the sale through eBay and I was sent confirmation from eBay that I was approved to buy this item. I was e-mailed that I was to send by Western Union the purchase price of the ATV to the Vehicle Purchase Program Agent, a Marcus Vadar 1111 Brickell Ave Miami, Fl. at fax# (831)677-4379 which is also the fax # for the Trust and Safety Department eBay Inc. according to all my paper work. He was to notify DAS Transport Services after he recieved verification that the money was recieved by the Vehicle Purchase Program Agent, Mr Vadar, but as of today he has not done so and has stopped all correspondence through his e-mail address with me as of Dec 22 2006. I contacted Western Union and they told me the money was picked up but refused to tell me who signed for it without a subpeona. I contacted AOL and asked for information on his e-mail address and was told they could not release that info. either.
I was told by eBay to report this to my local Police Dept which I have done and to report it to Internet Crime Complaint Center. I have to believe that AOL or eBay have some paper trail that can reveal info on him and his where abouts.

I have just been contacted by the Roselle police about this matter. I have no knowledge of this purchase and the email given is not mine. I am working with the police, ebay and aol to come to the bottom of this.

The BBB is a business that merely keeps a record of complaints about other businesses. They are not above lying to you to get you to sign up and give them money to become a member. All businesses will receive complaints no matter how hard they try to please. Some people cannot be made happy. I think the record regarding AG's behavoir is well documented here already.
![]()
They keep records ONLY of stores which decide to be part of BBB.If you are not part of BBB than they have no records.
IMHO, completely useless organization whose existence only mislead ordinary person to think that they have some control and authority over the stores.

had a situation with a seller who would not sell for no logical reason.. he took my personal information then backed out (brian kelly @ hello).this was very upsetting since audiogon "protects" him and wont allow posting of any negative feedback on him (i count my self lucky). there have been worse situations with with poor excuse of a seller (i think brian kelly may be female).
Do you have more details?
I seem to remember someone posting a nasty classified ad attacking Hello! at agon. Was that you?
I've bought multiple items from Hello!, and never had a problem.
![]()
Just checked their feedback, and they have over 1600 transactions since 1999, with only one negative.
I wonder who has the problem, you or them?
![]()
Well, your negative feedback is there now. Let us know if you get some from the seller. This IS the bad part of feedback. Retaliation seems to be the name of the game. I don't know how else they could do it, though. Personally, I look for absolute positive feedback and lots of it before I buy anything over $100. I've never understood the audiogon dispute settlement process.
![]()
I look for older feedback, from before A'gon instituted its current feedback policy.

I am glad I put together my system before the new feedback system was introduced :(

Audiogon absolutly protects unscrupuous sellers. Let me give you my experience.
I am going to give a very condensed version here.
I bid on a Audio Research CD player. Seller claimed it was less than 3 months old. After putting in my first bid I immediatly received a email from the seller offering to sell it to me at my opening bid price ( I was the third bid). I emailed back suggesting that he go back and read the rules for auction at Audiogon.
My bid was the highest and I received a email from the seller wanting a bank transfer. I emailed back asking for the serial number and date of purchase since the add said it was fairly new. Also, I suggested using a escrow account for which I would pay for any charges. First time I did this for a deal at Audiogon but, things weren't smelling right.
I then got a email telling me that actually he had already sold it to the first bidder! I contacted the first bidder by email and suggested he also look at the rules at Audiogon but, also told him that it was ok with me. I also suggested he keep in touch and let me know if there were any gltiches in the deal and told him about my reservations.
About a week later he emailed me letting me know that he had put money in Paypal but had never received the CD player. He contacted Paypal and got the original sellers account frozen.
Next thing I got a new email from the original seller telling me that his deal had fallen through and would I like to buy the CD player.
Both myself and the first "buyer" filed a greivance with Audiogon. Not a week went by before I see the same seller auctioning the same CD player on Audiogon. I immediatly contacted Audiogon, not only did they not stop the aucion, they now have me on some kind of watch list. It used to be when I posted the post would show up in a short time now whenever I make a posting sometimes days go by and sometimes it never shows up stating that the moderator didn't approve the post. And I am not any kind of flamethrower or pot stirrer.
I did try to post warning about the seller and the impending auction and got a warning from Audiogon!!! I answered their warning with the question "Did they know that right at this minute there was a fraudulent auction going on?" And, of course, gave them all the details.
When the auction ended I emailed the "winner" and suggested that he get the serial number of the unit from the seller before sending money just to make sure that it wasn't stolen or perhaps didn't even exist but, never heard back.

I'm pretty sure the seller has to accept the feedback for it to be posted so if it's a negative then forget it.
Many will sell their honor & SOUL out there for $100 or even less.
