i sold some speakers on ebay recently. seller lives in hong kong but wants me to ship to chicago. i've become overly cautious lately of ebay scams and usually don't do large transactions on ebay - is this situation one to watch out for? my feeling is as long as i get payment, and it clears in my account and i ship the package with required signature and tracking I should be clear - right?thanks.
As long as payment was not via PayPal you will be ok. If overseas buyers use PayPal & claim item not shipped, you lose EVERYTIME!!!!You see, PayPal could care less if you can prove shipping overseas with a tracking number.
I lost $85 to ebayer eltd2002 in Italy over the incident mentioned above. I could prove tracking to Italy as viewed on-line. PayPal refunded the con artist anyways.
PayPal supports ebay sales first, not honest sellers. By default PayPal also supports con artists & they know it.

that this was a mistake on the shipping company? Why would someone bother with fraud for such a small sum?Do you know if paypal does the same for sales w/in the U.S.?
How can you avoid this problem with overseas shipments? Any idea? How can Paypal refund the money if you've withdrawn the money? They can't take it from your checking account, can they? I think the money still has to be in your paypal account. Am I wrong?
