Ray Lamontagne....excellent and wonderful, early Van Morrison for the new century.. Glynn Johnn's son holding the reins and quite well I mighty add.
Norah Jones with balls.
Follow Ups:
..what a killer!
Exellent album. I love listening to it while working in my shop. It's great wood working music. Funny, now that I think of it I've never tried it out on the hi-fi. I've always listened in the shop or the car. I think my favorite track is "Joline" but there are so many good ones it's hard to decide. If your on the fence as to whether or not to buy the album check out his website and DL some of the demo excerpts.
Yes, yes!
I can imagine that real well....
'Trouble's my favourite at the moment but, hell, I just bought it!!!
..."Trouble" and originally thought it might be Tracey Chapman singing. Then I realized it was a male and heard his name. But come on...Van Morrison?
of hips song writing. Maybe not quite Van, but close and a damn good first effort.
How did you hear of Ray Lamontagne? Will I be able to pick up this cd at Best Buy or Borders or will I have to order it? Thanks
En Emmmm!

I'm glad you mentioned Joan Armatrading. Anybody reading this post should at least check out Lovers Speak.I picked up Lovers Speak about six months ago and it is one of the best albums in my collection. Just to put that into context, I have more than 1100 cds. That album is simply amazing.
I remember her from videos in the early '80s. I was in Borders and accidently hit the wrong button to listen to a cd and Lovers Speak began to play. Boy, was I glad about that mistake.
Anyway, knowing that I love Lovers Speak, what other Armatrading albums would you recommend. Thanks
Walk Under Ladders (one of her more "produced albums, Steve Lillywhite did the production). My personal favorite, but not her "best", the best is -Self Titled (She was actually "hot" for awhile, after performing Down To Zero on Saturday Night Live in 1975 off this GREAT album. Hard to find. Her greatest hits compilations have a couple of songs off it tho. This one is rather sparse and lean as opposed to Ladders, but listen to her fine, understated, acoustic guitar playing and her lyrics are as strong as anything in her repertoire. Closer to Lovers Speak than anything else off the top of me head.
Me Myself I, also highly recommendedTo The Limit, ditto
Lovers Speak is simply awesome. Her late in career albums up to this haven't been so good. And then, out of the blue, this hits. Definitely belongs with the others I've mentioned above.
...CD of the same name is my favorite, too, and is till available - see link. My second favorite is "Show Some Emotion".
