1) If not plaster wallboard - what is the alternative?
2) What do I do with this low ceiling?
3) Given the almost cubicle dimensions of the room - at what frequencies should I expect problems and how to treat them (Helmholz?)
My best suggestion is to read my Acoustics FAQThat will answer 1 through 3. :-> )
As for 1, what are the options? What kind of walls do you have now? Why do you want to change them?
Walls are concrete - very reflective. I think it's a killer for such a modest size room.
Concrete walls reflect more and to lower frequencies than walls made of wood or sheet rock. But putting a new wall in front of the concrete will not help. Bass traps are the best solution. The more you have, the better the results.
