is there any particular ethos, any specific areas of technical discussion which participating inmates in this board are supposed to adhere to?
Follow Ups:
The geeky kid who thinks it's cool to wear a beanie with a propeller.....You know, the one who grows up wearing thick glasses, and spends his time with a virtual (computer concocted) girlfriend, and listens to Depeche Mode, Devo, and Tomita.....
And has the entire Star Trek series memorized, owns a Star Wars Light Saber, and has his hair always looks like he just got out of bed.....
And when the subject becomes audio, it's not the Beethoven or Beatles that has him interested, but Nyquist's Theorem and Fourier transforms.....
You would be surprised how many audiophiles have no clue what Ohm's Law is or how to use it. Their eyes glaze over as soon as the discussion turns towards something this abstract. Propeller Head Plaza was created to host technical discussions that would be over the heads of most of the AA participants.Unfortunately, most of the debate seems to be over the epistemological validity of facts rather than the practical matters of how to accomplish technical ends.
. . . are more likely to be found over at Tweaks/DIY and the other DIY fora.
"Propeller Head" is a derogatory name for an academically focused individual that has been taken to be an endearing term for the same. From Wikipedea:
"The term propeller head (sometimes abbreviated PropHead) also refers to a person (usually an engineer of some type) who is employed to do a technically demanding job. It appears to derive from a "head in the clouds" type stereotyping of more technically aware people (compare with geek, nerd, absent-minded professor, etc.) or possibly from the propeller beanie. The term may be meant or taken as slightly pejorative but is usually meant with some respect."
This forum seems to be intended to be for highly technical discussions about circuit design and theory of operation.

I don't have time for this. My clock ran away and I must go find it.
