I want to put a hafler power amp at the bottom of a rack that also has a dat recorder and sundry other gear. How far should the amp be from the DAT machine (i.e. minimum number of rack spaces)?
Follow Ups:
If you don't push your PA too hard, 2 or 3 U are enough. If you expect to push it hard, you'll be trouble-free @ 4 to 6 U.
( reason: the transformer has more leak when near his rated output current )Anyway, I would advise to put the DAT at at least 8 to 12 U from the rack's bottom, PA or not.
The reason is to avoid dust and imprecise operator's movement if he has to insert tapes or anything else while kneeled or squatted down.
Good points, Jack. :)
Its in my own little edit/pro tools room, so maybe I can go with the 2-3 u rule.
