The Sans Pareil did not have a triode output stage. The amps I owned were the smaller version of the Panthere and used 6AS7s, I think, in the output stage. I did not own them for very long, because they were soundly trounced by the Prodigy OTL monoblocks which I already owned prior to purchasing the Fouriers, hence the vague recollection. I remember thinking that if I kept the Fouriers I would have hard-soldered most or all of those spade-type connections.
Follow Ups:
Google is amazing. The Fourier amplifier I owned was called the "Triomphe" (smaller version of the Panthere but with a similar triode-based output stage). Apparently it was a stereo single-chassis amplifier, rated at 85 WPC. That's all the info I can find in all of Google-dom.
I remember seeing one or two Triomphes on the benches full of amps in for repair in their shop. They didn't use the 6C33C-Bs as the Panthere and Triode (stereo version, also 85 watts per channel like the Triomphe) did, I think they used PL509s (I could have a letter or number off) like the Sans Pareil monoblocks.
since I am certain that they had a triode output section. PL509s could be wired in triode, but I don't think that's how they did it.
According to the Stereophile review of the Sans Pareil monoblocks in June 1992 the output tubes were 6LF6's and if I remember correctly the tubes were hooked up in pentode mode.
No argument here; the Sans Pareil used a pentode-based output stage, with 6LF6s, if you say so. I wasn't sure whether the Sans Pareil used 6LF6s or EL/PL509s, since I never laid eyes on one. Futterman himself and then Counterpoint, NYAL, and Prodigy eventually settled on the 6LF6 as the output tube of choice for Futterman-type OTLs, but in later years the 6LF6 became scarce and expensive. That's why Transcendent now uses the EL or PL509. However, Brian and I are talking about my brief experience with the Triomphe amplifier, which was a little brother to the Panthere and like the Panthere had a triode output stage. The Triomphe did not use 6C33Cs but instead used 6AS7s, as far as I can remember.
Have you seen the website of John Atwood, who apparently did some consulting on the Fourier amps? There is some info on the Fourier Sans Pareils, Triomphe, and Panthere.
