Does anyone know how to do this? Also curious what the result would be as far as what one would expect to hear.

Hi Bryan,The NFB loop on the M-60 is rather simple. You will see a two conductor red shielded cable that makes a connection from the speaker posts to the input tube, by way of a pair of 2Mohm resistors.
You can simply disconnect the cable, but you could also remove the 2Mohm resistors. I'd not suggest cutting the cable; too great of a chance that the cut might short the conductors to each other, or to the shield.
My M-60 Mk.II were built without feedback; the parts are in there, but the cable is simply not hooked up. I've always used them on an optimal load, (true 8ohms, 91-93dB sens.) and performance was great. Some time ago, Paul Speltz supplied a pair of zeros, which I run at 1.5x - presenting a theoretical 12ohm load to the amps. This arrangment is even better, since the stock M-60 produces its maximum power into 12ohms.
I don't own an M60 and haven't laid eyes on one for quite a while. Is there an external switch for NFB? Probably not, since you would then not have had to ask the question. If not, then you will have to snip a wire inside; consult the factory. As to your second question, you MIGHT hear a little better sense of depth and better sound-staging. You might also lose something, because without NFB, the output Z of your amps will go up a bit and if you don't have a high-impedance speaker the capacity of the amp to drive your speakers may be compromised somewhat. If you have "4-ohm" speakers, I don't recommend eliminating NFB. If you own 8-ohm speakers or higher, you will probably like the results of cutting out NFB.
Thanks Lew. You're right, I don't have a NFB switch on my M60s. But I know it can be added, and I believe there used to be a tweak on how to do this on ASOG. I would just as soon not use a switch and just "cut the wire", but without the ASOG content I'm not sure what to do. I guess I'll have to contact Atma-Sphere. As for whether I'll like it or not, what you said is what I wanted to hear. I do have ZEROs so it should be worthwhile.
